Get to know the dial
At the heart of the grind
Beans pass between an inner cone and an outer burr. The dial changes the gap; your hand supplies the motion. No cable, charger, or counter outlet needed.

Gravity takes its time. Espresso adds pressure. Here is what each asks of your grinder.

A small brush, a dry cup, and a minute of care between brews. Leave the burrs out of the sink.
Read guideFine settings are intended for espresso; pour-over generally calls for a coarser grind. Your beans, basket, and machine determine the setting and whether you can dial in a particular recipe. We do not promise compatibility with every espresso setup. Fine grinding also tends to take more turns and effort.
The numbered dial sits outside the grinder, so you can adjust without opening the catch cup. Note your setting when a brew tastes good, together with your beans and recipe. Dial numbers are relative starting points for this grinder, not universal recipes or a calibrated particle-size chart. Never force the dial past its stop.
The grinder, crank handle, and catch cup. The $8 cleaning brush and $19 EVA travel case are sold separately. The burrs shown separately in photographs illustrate the mechanism; they are not a spare set.
Keep the burrs and adjustment mechanism dry. Empty the catch cup and use a clean, dry brush on loose grounds. Wipe the exterior with a barely damp cloth, then dry it immediately. Do not rinse, soak, immerse, or put the grinder in a dishwasher. Only wash a removable part if the supplied manual expressly allows it.
Good coffee. By hand.
